Relationships
Relationships in SBOS.AI allow you to record how contacts and organisations are connected to each other. This provides valuable context when managing client matters and understanding the broader network of people your firm works with.
Types of Relationships
Contact Relationships
Contacts can be linked to each other through several relationship types:
| Type | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Family | Family connections between contacts | Spouse, parent, sibling |
| Professional | Work or business relationships | Colleague, employer, business partner |
| Referral | One contact referred another to the firm | Referred by existing client |
Organisation Relationships
Organisations can also be linked to each other:

Creating a Contact Relationship
To link two contacts:
- Open a Contact record
- Navigate to the Relationships tab
- Click Add Relationship
- Select the related Contact
- Choose the relationship type
- Add any notes about the relationship
- Click Save
Creating an Organisation Relationship
To link two organisations:
- Open an Organisation record
- Navigate to the Relationships tab
- Click Add Relationship
- Select the related Organisation
- Choose the relationship type
- Add any notes about the relationship
- Click Save
Why Relationships Matter
Recording relationships helps your firm:
- Identify conflicts of interest -- See if contacts on opposing sides of a matter are related
- Track referral sources -- Understand how new clients find your firm
- Build client context -- Provide better service by understanding client networks
- Cross-sell services -- Identify opportunities through relationship mapping
